We had a customer contact us looking for support on his Archer cordless soldering iron. We hear from people with tools dating back to the 1970s maybe once every week or so. Just when we think we know all the Iso-Tip products from the past, a new one pops up! This customer had something that made us scratch our heads. He was claiming to have a cordless soldering tool that was manufactured by Wahl for Radioshack under the brand Archer. We had never heard of it. The customer sent us over the 1977 Radioshack catalog, lo and behold page 77 has the Iso-Tip soldering tool.
The Archer Cordless Soldering Iron offered the same features as today’s Model #7700 Quick Charge Pro cordless soldering iron.

I have a ISO TIP black power pro iron and I use it every day in camera repair and I have been since 1975 and I love it . I have had many over the years. I would like to know how many watts it is or what does it compare to, because sometimes I need something just a little hotter.

All of our rechargeable soldering irons (#7700, #7800, #7904) have a power rating of 25 watts. If you are looking for something hotter our butane powered soldering irons (#9010, #7977, #7971) can range from 30-125W electrical power equivalent and they can reach 1020°F (depending on which butane soldering iron is right for you)
I have an Archer cordless iron from the ’70s – it has a Tandy Radio Shack label on it Catalog No 64-9077. Unfortunately I have misplaced the charger – Could you advise me what the charger voltage should be and if the ctr pin is negative or positive please – Best regards Roger Hoodless (UK)
Roger, the 70’s cordless soldering pen 64-2075 looks like the plug is center post positive. Did you find out transformer power requirement?

I picked up a Craftsman Sears robuck 250 w soldering gun and would like to know how old it is looks brand new. It also came with some electronic solder a 1 lb new rap that has a $2.79 price on it.
